Year 1929 :: Anne Frank was born

Anne Frank (1929-1945) was a Jewish girl whose account of her experience during the German occupation of Netherlands during World War II remains a classic of war literature. In 1942, oppressed by the Nazi regime, young Anne along with her family went into hiding in a small apartment in Amsterdam. However, the Franks were later discovered and, like other Jews, sent to concentration camps by the Gestapo. Her diary Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl was first published in 1947 and since then has been translated in all major languages of the world.
