Abstract	The success of a future integrated broadband network is to a large extent dependent on the introduction strategy. If the public networks are to handle broadband services in the near, medium as well as in the long term perspective, a cost-effective network has to be in operation at each instant. This paper describes an introduction scenario which covers the time frame from today to the early stages of B-ISDN. The early introduction is aimed at the business customers and the prime service is data communications, particularly LAN interconnect. It is shown how broadband services can be introduced gradually in the network by means of MANs and DCSs, and how these components can be reused when B-ISDN is introduced.
