| Abstract | PURPOSE:To readily obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for antibiotic substances in high yield by reacting a diazoacetoacetic acid ester with a trialkylsilyl chloride in the presence of an organic base and alkali metal halide in an inert solvent. CONSTITUTION:For example, a compound expressed by formula I [R<1> is 1 to 6C alkyl, (substituted) phenyl or aralkyl (preferably p-nitrobenzyl)], a compound expressed by formula II (R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are 1 to 6C alkyl) (preferably trimethylsilyl chloride, etc.) and an organic base (preferably triethylamine) are added into an inert solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) and a compound (preferably NaI), expressed by formula III (M is alkali metal; X is bromine atom) and dissolved in the abovementioned inert solvent is then added thereto. Reaction is subsequently carried out at a temperature within the range of -10 deg.C to the boiling temperature of the solvent. The reaction mixture is then concentrated under reduced pressure and a solvent is added to filter off insoluble substances. The solvent is subsequently distilled away under reduced pressure to afford the objective compound expressed by formula IV. |
