Abstract The security context of the Sahara-Sahel has led to the development of numerous international, regional and multilateral initiatives, such as the G5. As a result, there is a collective understanding of the need for these efforts to work together. These initiatives include the EU Strategy for Security and Development in the Sahel (2011), the UN Integrated Strategy for the Sahel (2013), the AU Strategy for the Sahel Region (2014) and the ECOWAS Strategy for the Sahel (2014). The call of these initiatives for strengthening dialogue among all actors involved to achieve lasting security for the West African population is shared by all, as is expressed through the following contributions.
