Abstract In many practical situations the ability to utilize Ada's capacity for data abstraction is compromised by the requirement to interface with memory resident data provided by previously designed software or hardware. A technique is presented for maintaining data abstraction by overlaying Ada structure on linear, unstructured data in a shared memory region.
