Abstract BS>Maximum extraction is attained with a sodium fluorosilicate: beryl molecular ratio of 3: 1, at 725 deg C for 3 hours. Increasing time or temperature reduces the amount of extractable beryllium. The rate of reaction depended on the particle size of the beryl. Reaction mechanisms are discussed. (P.C.H.)
