Abstract Spin and parity of some low-lying levels in {sup 100}Ru have been assigned by measuring {ital K}-internal conversion coefficients of the deexciting transitions. The new information, combined with the available experimental data, has been analyzed in the framework of the interacting boson model (IBM-2) to clarify the structure of the 2{sub 3}{sup +}, 2{sub 4}{sup +}, and 3{sub 1}{sup +} levels in terms of their mixed-symmetry character. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
