Abstract An attempt is made to estimate the abundance of the electron- and meson( mu )-associated neutrinos in the universe. Expressions are presented for the integral mass density and thermal distribution. Probable reactions in which the neutrinos are produced are discussed. It is concluded that an empirical determination of the overall densities of the different neutrinos is possible in principle, the best method being seemingly given by tritium and meson( mu ) decay.
