Abstract Software defined radios (SDR) are gaining popularity because of the capability of reprogramming them to work under different standards with minimum hardware change. A software radio can be programmed to acquire data from a GPS satellite as well as a GLONASS satellite. This paper describes the implementation of a non-real time GPS software receiver. The receiver was verified to decode a set of non-real time raw GPS data bin on the LI carrier and the civil navigation message using the C/A code that was stored on a hard drive.
