Abstract The objective of this communication is to examine in which cases the asymmetric lines can be considered as enough close relations of the symmetric lines to be studied as these last ones. To suitably analyze these quasi-symmetric lines, a rigorous formulation is used, the trying functions being determined either from the symmetric case being inspired by even and odd modes, or written in a general way applied for the case of the asymmetric lines. A comparative study of the results of the parameters of dispersal shows the limits of validity of the hypothesis, in particular for the fundamental mode of the coplanar structure which shows itself particularly stable towards the asymmetries due to the case as to the differences of widths of cracks.
