Abstract This paper illustrates some necessary conditions for smooth feedback stabilizability of a class of nonlinear control systems. By making use of the Coron's topology-based criteria (1990), this paper will show that stabilizability of a system is often be judged by the dimensions of the components of its equilibria set.
