Abstract The structure of abrasive wear resistant coatings, obtained by electron-beam borating of steel 45 (ferrite-pearlite structure) and by complex alloying (/spl alpha/and /spl beta/-modifiers) of /spl alpha/- and (/spl alpha/+/spl beta/) titanium alloys, was studied by diffraction of synchrotron radiation and optical microscopy.
