Abstract Multi-section distributed-feedback lasers with surface gratings have been fabricated without re-growth by employing ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography. High-frequency photon-photon resonance was exploited to extend the direct modulation bandwidth beyond the conventional limits set by the carrier-photon resonance.
