Abstract A detailed analytical description of voice call performance in an integrated environment where call priorities are involved is introduced. A deterministic medium-access protocol for the integration of voice and data over a local area network (LAN) with bus configuration is introduced. An analytical model based on movable boundary techniques for blockable voice calls and queuable data messages is used for performance evaluation of the system. A major part of this evaluation is based on a detailed blocking probability analysis for voice calls in two cases, namely, the case of priority levels assigned to different classes of voice calls and the case of distinct priorities assigned to each station individually according to its address. The blocking probability and the average number of calls in progress are calculated in each case for different priority levels. The data message wait time is also calculated as a measure of data transmission performance.<<ETX>>
