Abstract The two photon absorption coefficient (/spl beta/) and third order nonlinear optical susceptibility (/spl chi//sup <3>/) of ZnSe:Ag crystals were investigated using the nonlinear transmission and DFWM methods. The experimental results show that the real and imaginary part of third order nonlinear optical susceptibility (/spl chi//sup <3>/) decrease with increase of Ag content.
