Abstract In this paper, after a theoretical background on pulse-shaping, a simulation model for calculating communication quality is designed with National Instruments' LabVIEW. Generated message is sent via the phase-shift keying modulation through the AWGN-and Rician fading channel. Simulation results show that filtering should be done in order to reduce the intersymbol interference in system. The root raised cosine filter showed better performance than the raised cosine filter. By use of a higher value of the roll-off factor communication quality becomes better. Simulation of communication over Rician fading channels showed the influence of the Rician factor on communication quality.
