Abstract We propose a blind iterative synchronizer for chip-interleaving (CI), time-hopping (TH) ultra-wideband (UWB) signals subject to intersymbol and multiple access interferences. The synchronizer is a soft-input soft-output (SISO) device which makes it compatible with iterative equalization techniques. We embed it into an iterative equalizer for which a new channel decoder is designed that can work with probabilities of possible time-delays instead of hard estimates. The performance of the proposed receiver is illustrated via simulations.
