Abstract The paper presents a genetic approach to the design of finite impulse response filters with coefficients constrained to be sums of power-of-two terms. The evolutionary algorithm is explained and compared experimentally with other state-of-the-art design methods. The proposed technique is able to attain good results and can be easily implemented on parallel hardware.<<ETX>>
