Abstract We propose a method to test the quality of machines by using learning vector quantization (LVQ). We extract the characteristic spectrum from acoustic data, and apply it to train a neural network. Then we use the trained neural network to test the other acoustic data. The experimental results show that the proposed method is able to perform the intelligent testing of machines successfully.
