Abstract We present ({ital {rvec p}},{ital {rvec n}}) spin observable measurements in the quasielastic and quasifree delta region of excitation taken on the targets {sup 2}H and {sup 12}C at 0{degree} and 795 MeV proton energy. These observables have been used to form the spin--longitudinal ({sigma}{center_dot}{ital q}) and spin--transverse ({sigma}{times}{ital q}) cross sections. Good agreement is found between experiment and theory in the spin--longitudinal channel. {copyright} {ital 1995} {ital American} {ital Institute} {ital of} {ital Physics}.
