Abstract On a mereury electrode, hexavalent uranium in aqueous solution is reduced to tetravalent or trivalent compounds, and in some cases even to metal. A number of stages of the cathode process are observed, and the final valence form of the uranium depends on the composition of the solution, especially on the presence of complex formers and the pH of the medium. Polarography of uranium as an analytical method is at present of limited application. (auth-trans)
