Abstract ABS>The corrosion products developed by steel when reacting with water of varying oxygen content at room temperature and at 316 deg C are described. The reaction was carried out in sealed steel capsules and followed by pH measurement of the solution and by microscopic, x-ray, and electron diffraction analysis of the corrosion product films, Data on the transformation behavior of the corrosion products involved and a summary of some of their physical properties are included.
