Abstract The /sup 87/Sr//sup 86/Sr ratios were determined for 15 Hawaiian lavas, which are merabers of the tholeiitic and alkaline senies. There is a consistent inverse relation between the /sup 87/Sr/sup 86/Sr ratio and the K/Rb ratio. This suggests that conthmination by assimilation of marine sediments is an influencing factor in Hawaiian petrogenesis. (auth)
