Abstract Before a business invests capital into energy improvements, it should know how much the projected improvements will cost and when they will pay for themselves. This article describes such an analysis that can be made through the use of a microcomputer software package. The package, called Economic Analyzer, interactively solicits key input variables from the user with respect to a particular energy conservation investment. These input categories provide all the information necessary for an economic evaluation of a particular investment option. The computed results include total life-cycle costs, net benefits, savings-to-investment ratio, internal rate of return and discounted payback.
