Abstract A sample of rare-earth concertrate derived from euxenite was analyzed for the long-lived isotope /sup 247/Cm by mass spectrometric isotope dilution. Less than 10/sup -14/ g of /sup 247/Cm per gram of rare earth was found. It is difficult to reconcile this negative result with the reported discovery of this isotope in nature. (auth)
