Abstract Measurements were made between 300 and 1500 deg K and are in gocd agreement with the Van Vleck theory of paramagnetism based on a localized f- electron model of noninteracting Pr³⁺ ions. By making a reasonable correction for the contribution of conduction electrons to the paramagnetism, a best fit to the experimental results is obtained by using a screening constant sigma = 34.
