Abstract The long-range part of the nucleon-nucleon potential is approximated by the finite-range delta-function potential: V/sub singlet even/ = V/sub 1 sigma / (r-a), V/sub triplet even/ = V/sub 3 sigma / (r-a) + V/sub T/ sigma (r-a)S/sub 12. The best fit to the low-energy n-p data is obtained when V/sub 3/ repulsive and V/sub T/ is large. The uncertainties in the V's are of the order of l0%. (auth)
