Abstract The characteristics of Gaussian beams with partial spatial coherence are considered theoretically. The conditions for efficient recording of laser radiation reflected from scattering surfaces upon laser heterodyning and intracavity radiation reception are analysed. Recommendations on the use of projecting telescopic systems are given. Theoretical conclusions are confirmed experimentally. (laser beams)
