Abstract We apply a previously described lowest-Landau-level formalism to treat flux-lattice melting in artificially layered superconductors, using Monte Carlo methods. For a pin-free layered system, the model predicts a single phase transition with simultaneous ordering both within one layer and between layers. The melting curve calculated using this model agrees reasonably well with experiments of Koorevaar {ital et} {ital al}. on NbGe/Ge multilayers. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
