Abstract A superheated vapor of indium triiodide consisting predominantly of InI/sub 3/ molecules has been investigated by gas-phase electron diffraction analysis at 436/sup 0/C. The planar equilibrium configuration of the molecule and its force field have been established by means of a combined analysis of the electron diffraction data and the experimental vibrational frequencies.
