Abstract Di-muon decays of J/ψ mesons and Z bosons have been used to study the muon reconstruction efficiency versus eta and the muon isolation efficiency versus the number of reconstructed vertices in the ATLAS detector. There is good agreement between the scale factors from the J/psi and Z measurements versus eta. The pile-up corrected calorimeter isolation efficiency displays a small dip in efficiency at high pile-up. The track isolation efficiency remains constant at even the highest levels of pile-up.
