Abstract Tests carried out with single-channel scintillation counters set at the I/sup 131/ energy level proved encouraging. Using a preset time of 10 sec and a net count corresponding to half the background as a criterion, a detection level of 0.0004 mu c/l was established on the exterior wall of a 50 1 container. The sensitivity and spee-d justify the cost of the equipment. (P.C.H.)
