Abstract The close analogy between ion exchange resins and concentrated aqueous solution is demonstrated by the equilibrium between a dilute and concentrated aqueous solutions of corresponding to that of the exchangers concerned. Supporting examples and data are given and it is noted that if this principle applies generally, the outlook for enriching isotopes of higher mass by pure ion exchange is dim. (J.R.D.)
