|Abstract||Although numerous investigations have been reported in the literature dealing with the micellar properties of polyoxyethyleneglycol-n-alkyl ethers exhibiting a Poisson distribution of the ethylene oxide chain or with an alkyl chain comprising even carbon numbers, relatively few have dealt with polyoxyethyleneglycol-n-alkyl ethers with an alkyl chain comprising both even and odd carbon numbers. The object of this investigation was an experimental study to provide the data necessary for the calculation of the free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of micellization in aqueous solutions of octaethyleneglycol-n-alkyl ethers with a homogeneous ethylene oxide chain and alkyl chains in the range from C/sub 10/ to C/sub 15/. The free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of micellization are discussed in terms of the separate contributions of the hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups. 18 references.|

It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
