Abstract Inclusive inelastic scattering ({ital n},{ital n}{prime}{ital x}) continuum cross sections have been measured at 65 MeV for Fe, Sn, and Pb targets using a detection system consisting of large area wire chambers and {Delta}{ital E}{center_dot}{ital E} scintillation detectors in conjunction with a CH{sub 2} {ital n}{minus}{ital p} converter. The continuum ({ital n},{ital n}{prime}{ital x}) spectra are compared with earlier ({ital p},{ital p}{prime}{ital x}) data, and comparisons with cascade-statistical and preequilibrium continuum models are also made. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
