Abstract Stibine was prepared by slowly dropping a heavy water solution 2.5F NaOD. 0.5F KSbO(C/sub 4/H/sub 4/O/sub 6/),and 0.4F KBH/sub 4/ into a heavy water solution 2F in D/sub 2/SO/sub 4/. while bubbling N/sub 2/ through at 11 cm total pressure. The total exchangeable hydrogen was 97% D. The preparatlon yielded SbH/ sub 3/ to SbD/sub 3/ in a ratio of about 15: 1 with no partially deuterated stibine detectable. Mass spectrographic analysis of stibine showed a broad peak in the 120 to 130 region, no oxygen. a little water with H/sub 2/O greatest and D/ sub 2/O least, and small amounts of H/sub 2/, HD, and D2 with an H to D ratio of about 15. The only deuterated product found was SbD/sub 3/. (P.C.H.)
