Abstract A detailed re-examination of the matrix element M/sub F/ for the decay of O/sup 14/ is made, tsking into account Coulomb and other possible charge dependent forces between nucleons, including the phenomenological potential introduced by BlinStoyle and Le Tourneaux. Completely antisymmetrised wave functions are used for the various nuclear states in the calculation. This enhances the charge dependent effects to a small extent as compared with the results of previous calculations. Although the energy levels of the nuclear states involved are not known with great accuracy, the corrections to G/sub V/ are insufficient to explain the discrepancy between G/sub mu / and G/sub V/.
