Abstract An analysis was made of 143 protonic decays of SIGMA /sup +/, emerging from K/sup -/ capture stars in nuclear emulsion, in order to detect the possible parity nonconservation in the strong capture reaction. The forward-backward asymmetry A of the decay was determined, obtaining the value A = (4.4 plus or minus 7.8)%. This result is in accordance with the hypothesis of strict parity conservation. (auth)
