Abstract Science fiction seems to have spawned two divergent subgenres. One, which is out of favor, paints a bright future for us, assuming an optimistic, Darwinian "perfectability." These scenarios project an ever-expanding (or rather, a never-imploding) cosmos with ample time for utopian evolutions.
