Abstract The fourth annual Online College Students: Comprehensive Data on Demands and Preferences report surveyed 1,500 past, present, and prospective fully online college students. This article explores what online college students are looking for from higher education institutions, as well as best practices colleges and universities can implement to provide high-quality online programs. Field of study, affordability and the website are identified as key factors in online students decision making, and are all areas where institutions should carefully consider how to provide an optimal student experience.
