Abstract These CODE-NUNDRUMS are 704 coding puzzles, each of which contains an amusing twist. They are of the same category as chess end-problems, which often present artificial positions unlikely ever to be encountered in actual play, but the study of which undeniably sharpens one's performance in real games. So these puzzles, by pointing up the potentialities of the computing machine, should benefit the programmer who admittedly will never be called upon to “replace the contents of the AC with K, without using the letter A.”
