Abstract A sample of Nd{sub 2}Fe{sub 17}N{sub {ital x}} previously studied has been remeasured with higher-resolution powder neutron diffraction. Rietveld analysis confirms the existence of two values of {ital x}. The higher {ital x} corresponds to nearly full occupation of the octahedral 9{ital e} site, while the lower value corresponds to partial occupancy of both the octahedral and tetrahedral 18{ital g} sites by nitrogen.
