Abstract A model for calculating the temperature in an ion source with plasma heating by a radio-frequency MHz electromagnetic field is presented. The heat fluxes caused by the discharge plasma distributed over the ion-source surfaces are determined. In the model it is accepted that the heat transfer between ionsource elements is performed by radiation and heat conductivity. The contact thermal resistances between conjugate elements are taken into account. Calculated results of the temperature for the developed thruster with a power of 50 kW are presented.
