Abstract Rheumatic diseases constitute a major health problem in the general adult population. Prevalence of rheumatic disorders in increasing drastically world wide both in urban and rural areas (1-5). The majority of people suffering from rheumatic diseases are elderly and since the age of the population is increasing, the burden related to these diseases is expected to increase in the near future This has led to alarming increase in physical, social and economic burden (2, 3), which is preventable to a greater extent with early identification of disease & aggressive treatment. However, the primary rheumatology services are inadequate in rural areas.
