Abstract A fiber laser operating at 3.9 in the attenuation minimum of the 3 5 atmospheric window has been realized for the first time. The Ho3-doped fluoride fiber was pumped around 640 nm or 890 nm. More than 10 mW CW output power were measured while pumping at 890 nm. 1
