Abstract The specific heat of the colossal magnetoresistance material Nd{sub 0.67}Sr{sub 0.33}MnO{sub 3} is reported for 0.35{le}T{le}280thinspK, H=0 and 1{le}T{le}120thinspK, H=9thinspT. The results include a Schottky-like specific-heat anomaly for the Nd ordering, an {open_quotes}attenuation{close_quotes} of the Mn ordering anomaly, and a {ital T}-dependent {open_quotes}linear term,{close_quotes} {gamma}(T)T. This unusual combination of features is interpreted as arising from an interaction between the Nd and Mn spin systems. The expected magnetic entropy is recovered only if a contribution from the {gamma}(T)T term is included. {copyright} {ital 1999} {ital The American Physical Society}
