Abstract The work of Rogovin and Scalapino on noise in Josephson junctions is applied to the cases of zero-bias junctions, forward-biased junctions at relatively low frequencies, and to the case of arbitrary bias and frequency. In the latter case there is an infinity in the noise at the bias voltage V/sub 0/=hf/2e; these quantum effects are caused by Cooper pairs. The effect appears to be measurable at 100 GHz and 2 /sup 0/K, in which case the infinity in the noise occurs at 0.207-mV bias.
