Description This is the ninth chapter namely “Statistics” of book entitled “Mathematics: class 9”. This chapter deals with Statistics. Representation of the data with actual observations with frequencies in a table is called ‘Ungrouped Frequency Distribution Table’ or ‘Table of Weighted Observations. Representation of a large data in the form of a frequency distribution table enables us to view the data at a glance, to find the range easily, to find which observation is repeating for how many times, to analyse and to interpret the data easily. Statistics is the study of the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data. In applying statistics to, e.g., a scientific, industrial, or social problem, it is conventional to begin with a statistical population or a statistical model process to be studied. Statistics deals with all aspects of data including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. This chapter includes types of measure of central tendency : Mean, Mode, Median and some examples with solution related to the chapter.
